U.S. Armed Forces

June 1942

The Williamsburg Inn is reserved for U.S. armed forces officers and their family for the rest of World War II. In May 1944, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. fully close the Williamsburg Inn to the public so it can house U.S. Army officers. The Inn reopens to the public in February 1946.
